A rock duo from Taiwan, Power Station have been around since 1997, when Yu Chiu-hsin and Yen Chih-lin formed them after both had been in Virgin Choir and Prominent Position together. Since then Power Station have emerged as one of the most popular Asian rock acts, and they toured Malaysia, along with China and Singapore, in 2000. Though looking like a Western rock duo, with Yu's studious looks a contrast to the long-haired Yen, Power Station aren't restricted to playing typical rock anthems. They are just as well-known for their lively ballads. While tickets for Power Station concerts in Asia gives music fans the chance to see why they've been at the top for so long.
The duo's first album came out in 2001, and had the curious title of Walking Along Jhonghsiao East Street Nine Times. "Takie Tango" from that album was especially well received and earned an award for Best Mandarin Song. While the theme song for the My Fair Princess TV series was also an early Power Station song. Demand for Power Station tickets will be high, but, on the evidence of their career so far, seeing them live will live long in the memory.
