About ‘Fans on the Move’
Thousands of people from across the planet travel each month to attend the world’s biggest events. This interactive vizualization/infographic emcompasses the most internationally popular events which took place in last three years depicting the flow of visitors from their countries of origin to their destinations to attend events across several different categories. The top international events throughout those 36 months are highlighted.
Understanding the visualization
The curved lines show the paths that fans take from their home countries to attend events in other countries. An event can be under one of the three broad categories of: sport, music, and theater. Within the broader categories there are ten sports categories, two music categories, and one theater category, each differentiated by color.
POPULARITY OF DESTINATION
The quantity of international fans arriving to a country to attend events is represented via the radius of the circle which can be seen inside each country. The larger the circle, the higher the quantity of fans arriving from abroad.
TOP MONTHLY EVENTS (30)
Each month, the event with the highest foreign attendees is indicated with a small pop-up label which appears above the corresponding country.
